Family holidays in the Ötztal

Every metre, every curve, every hairpin bend — but it was worth it. Nothing as far as the eye can see, total silence. No roads, no houses. Just endless meadows, mountains and a velvety blue stretching over an incomparable natural idyll.

Home to our traditional mountain hotel & guesthouse in the Nedertal valley, an idyllic valley at the entrance to the picturesque Tyrolean Ötztal valley that winds its way from Oetz along the Inntal valley and up to the Kühtaisattel mountain pass before opening out into the Sellraintal valley. At 48 km-long, this incredible piece of mountain landscape stretches from Oetz to Kematen through the fields of the Ötztal Alps and right through the heart of the Stubai Alps. Just ten minutes by car from the Ötztal valley, you can reach the lush, dense forests of Ochsengarten at 1,560 metres above sea level. From there you can head left up to Marlstein and on to the Silzer Sattel alpine pass. Watch fields and meadows, shadowy forests, large clearings and craggy rock faces pass by. Magical realms and bizarre myths. Sun, warmth and light.

When you’re 1,800 metres closer to heaven, you know you have arrived in Marlstein. A unique holiday home surrounded by the mountains of the Ötztal valley is waiting for you. A guesthouse, hotel and bed and breakfast rolled into one. Just three minutes’ walk from the Hochoetz ski lifts and around 8 km to the Kühtai ski El Dorado.

Hello and welcome! The Neurauter family

500 years of history.
And still so young and fresh

The 500-year old vaulted cellar has been lovingly restored and is now our wine cellar steeped in ancient alpine history. There has been a mountain inn in Marlstein for over 100 years.  Today, it is a traditional hotel with a pine-clad Bauernstube (Rustic Lounge) that dates back to 1907 and an original wood burning stove from 1936, as well as the Tirolerstube and Jägerstube (Tyrolean and Hunting Lounges) . This cosy mountain hotel has 29 newly refurbished rooms, a restaurant with delicious cuisine, and a spa. Everything you could wish for in a modern holiday home all under one roof. There is also a farm that is famous throughout the Tyrol. But above all Marlstein embodies true Tyrolean hospitality and a unique alpine landscape makes it a real hidden paradise.

So shiny and new!...

Marlstein was renovated, expanded and refurbished in 2016 and 2020. A new home was born. With large, modern rooms, an in-house spa, sanarium, sauna, infra-red cabin, relaxation room, shingle-clad panoramic balconies...a lift and all the things that make our lives so comfortable. Plus: We have our own solar panels, so we are (almost) completely self-sufficient when it comes to electricity. We also have an eco-friendly wastewater system and a new pipeline that supplies us with crystal clear, fresh water from our own spring! Here you will find more informations about our way of electro mobility.

A delight for your taste buds, and for your heart..

With ‘fine dining’ comes the temptation for stars and haute cuisine. And that’s just what we don’t want. We prefer to have a feel for what our guests want and like. We take what nature gives us and cook to traditional recipes to inspire our guests towards healthy eating and enjoyment. And it’s not just our European guests that love it, many local Tyroleans make the journey up the mountain to Marlstein just to eat and drink in our restaurant. And of course, food critics and reviewers too!
